Dear Filmmakers,

We invite you to submit your films to Grand OFF - World Off Film Awards. Each year, in November, world independent films receive nominations in 9 categories: directing, scriptwriting, editing, cinematography, best actor, best actress, fiction, documentary and animation.

After a meticulous process of nomination, the members of the Grand Off Awards jury chapter, namely the representatives of film circles from 26 countries, select best pictures. The nominated films are screened in Warsaw, Poland, during the Grand Off Festival. During the Awards Ceremony, the authors of the awarded films receive the honourable Grand Off statuettes and diplomas.

A week later, the awarded films screenings are held in 25 cities in Poland and that is also when their fierce promotion starts.

The year 2009 will also mark the introduction of an entirely new award category, namely the Lifetime Contribution Prize. The awarded filmmaker will become an honourable guest of the festival, charting the artistic trends for the generations of independent filmmakers to come!

The initiative has already established its prestigious position in Europe and globally. Please join us in Warsaw on the 21st of November during the 3rd Grand OFF - World Off Film Awards Ceremony!

To become one of the invited filmmakers, you just have to submit your film!

ASPA anunţă prima ediţie Watumi Festival & Fringe

motto: Watumi promovează arta, nu notorietatea!

Watumi Festival & Fringe (WFF) este un eveniment artistic care doreşte să reunească artişti din întreaga lume. Watumi Festival & Fringe reprezintă un ecosistem de manifestări susţinut de artişti, trupe, promoteri, producători, companii de PR, jurnalişti şi, cel mai important, de către public.

Watumi Festival & Fringe este un spaţiu artistic şi cultural creat din dorinţa de a oferi o şansă artiştilor care sunt în căutarea afirmării sau a validării lor pe piaţa artistică. WFF devine astfel un spaţiu al dialogului artistic multicultural care îşi propune să traseze harta unui nou tărâm al artelor.

Watumi Festival & Fringe se adresează unei largi categorii de public. În primul rând, publicului consumator de artă, atât din România cât şi din străinătate. De asemenea, WFF vine în întâmpinarea artiştilor şi specialiştilor interesaţi de fenomenul cultural, facilitându-le şansa unei comunicări directe. În acelaşi timp, prin crearea unui mediu dinamic, vibrant şi stimulativ, oferă deopotrivă publicului neavizat oportunitatea unei iniţieri în lumea artei.

Watumi Festival & Fringe este primul festival care introduce noţiunea de Fringe în România şi care promovează arta în toate formele ei. Secţiunea Fringe a WFF reprezintă o platformă revoluţionară, special concepută pentru artiştii profesionişti şi debutanţi din toate colţurile lumii. Aceştia sunt încurajaţi să profite de mediul oportun şi de ambianţa boemă ale WFF pentru a recompune propriul lor univers estetic.

Dacă ai primit această invitaţie pentru a te înscrie la WFF, înseamnă că eşti în cercul nostru apropiat şi avem datele tale de contact. Dacă această invitaţie a ajuns la tine prin intermediul unui prieten înseamnă că eşti tot în cercul nostru apropiat şi te invităm să participi la Watumi Festival & Fringe.

Pentru înscrierea la Watumi Festival & Fringe eşti rugat să trimiţi un e-mail la adresa vreau@watumi.ro cu formularul ataşat completat. Artiştii participanţi la WFF sunt promovaţi pe site şi în broşura-program a festivalului. Locaţiile sunt puse la dispoziţie de către organizatori. Pe site veţi găsi în curând o listă a locaţiilor şi a detaliilor tehnice ale acestora. Participanţii la secţiunea fringe beneficiază de costuri modice pentru cazare. Locurile sunt limitate, aşa că te rugăm să te înscrii din timp. De asemenea, o parte din încasările rezultate din bilete revin artiştilor participanţi. Aşteptăm propuneri de workshopuri şi alte activităţi interactive, până la cel tarziu 15 iunie 2009; propunerile ce depăşesc această dată nu vor fi luate în considerare decât în cazuri speciale. Înscrierea la WFF se va face și online la www.watumi.ro, începând cu data de 1 mai.

Watumi Festival & Fringe este organizat de către Asociaţia pentru Susţinerea şi Promovarea Artiştilor. ASPA explorează interacţiunea ce coexistă între om şi arte, arhitectură, filozofie, ecologie, tehnologie şi felul în care toate acestea relaţionează cu noţiunea de oraş. ASPA colaborează cu artişti, ONG-uri, centre şi instituţii culturale care pot aduce un plus de valoare oraşului în perioada Watumi Festival & Fringe.

Participarea la Watumi Festival & Fringe poate că nu îţi va schimba viaţa peste noapte, nici nu îţi va zdruncina existenţa din temelii. Însă cu siguranţă vei fi văzut, vei petrece în compania altor artişti, vei avea ocazia să cunoşti oameni noi si te vei bucura de o atmosferă entuziastă.

CALL FOR ENTRIES – NOW OPEN

The Filmmuseum Amsterdam and the Dutch Cultural Media Fund are pleased to announce the fourth edition of DOKU.ARTS, which will take place from 11 to 14 June 2009 at the Filmmuseum in Amsterdam.

The call for entries for DOKU.ARTS 2009 is now open! The deadline for film submissions is 15 March 2009 (materials must be received by this date). Please go to www.doku-arts. com to download the submission form.

Theme of the festival
DOKU.ARTS explores the connections between the history of cinema and television and art. It shows contemporary cinematic portrayals and documents about artists and art, which succeed in getting close to the life and work of artists. The festival screens, promotes and discusses documentaries about all art fields: music, literature, theatre, dance, cinema, architecture, painting, sculpture, visual art and media art. DOKU.ARTS presents films and videos with intrinsic artistic value.

Festival history
DOKU.ARTS was founded in 2006 at the Academy of Arts in Berlin by Andreas Lewin. In 2008 the new director of the Filmmuseum, Sandra den Hamer, formerly director of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, invited the festival to move to Amsterdam.
